We hope to inspire everyone to care for our shared planet
Biodiversity walk with the Roundwood Biodiversity Group
At Luggala, we are proud to play an active role in supporting both our local and wider communities. Over the years, we have welcomed Transition Year students and classes from multiple schools for guided walks led by their teachers, helping young people engage with the landscape in meaningful and educational ways. Our collaboration with educators extends beyond the classroom, with teacher-led team-building walks that foster deeper connections to the natural environment and inspire new ways of integrating the outdoors into learning.
Our commitment to education extends to research and academic study. We collaborate with leading institutions such as Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, Queen’s University Belfast and Yale University, offering the Estate as a living landscape for scientific study, ecological monitoring, and environmental experiments. These partnerships nurture curiosity and contribute to important advancements in understanding upland ecosystems, land use, and climate resilience.
Beyond education and research, we are deeply engaged in initiatives that enrich and strengthen our local community. We have supported the Roundwood Community Council with the village community garden and have hosted the Roundwood Biodiversity Group for dedicated biodiversity walks, encouraging greater awareness and appreciation of the natural environment.
We also proudly support local organisations and events that embody the spirit of community. From assisting Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue in their vital work to welcoming participants of the Wicklow Mountain Race, Luggala is honoured to provide a setting for activities that bring people together, foster collaboration, and deepen the shared sense of care and stewardship for this remarkable landscape.
Education & Community Engagement
Proud Supporters of Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue
We’re proud to support the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team (DWMRT) and their vital work in multiple ways. This dedicated volunteer service operates 24/7, responding to emergencies across the upland areas of Dublin, Wicklow, and Louth. With a mission to deliver professional-standard rescue services, DWMRT plays a crucial role in keeping people safe in remote and often dangerous environments. We’re honoured to collaborate in their lifesaving efforts and encourage others to support their mission
Proud Supporters of W.H. Five Loaves
We are proud to stand with W.H. Five Loaves, a charity dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness. Through hands-on outreach and community engagement, they offer practical help and restore dignity to those in need. By raising awareness and challenging common misconceptions about homelessness, W.H. Five Loaves inspires greater compassion and understanding. We hope to encourage others to support their vital work.
